She has worked for the likes of Jenson Button, Force India and Super Aguri and is currently PR for young American racing driver Alexander Rossi. She also works for the Race of champions, a very well received and world renown event. I know a number of you are interested in a job in the F1 or Motorsport world and Emma has some interesting points and advice on her job. Check out this interview with the lovely lady herself.

Here is the interview with Emma,

1) How did you get into the PR industry? Did you start from the very beginning in Motorsport?

I first entered the world of PR & Events whilst working in the fashion industry in London. A role at a leading full-service marketing agency heading up the consumer and sponsorship PR division followed, which included working with global companies sponsoring major music events.

I was lucky and my first motor sport job was straight in to Formula 1. A client's sponsorship of Jordan Grand Prix afforded me the opportunity to experience the pinnacle of Motorsport immediately and a position at BAR Honda F1 was my next calling. I have since worked at Super Aguri F1 Team, been contracted as a consultant by Jardine International Media Communications, A1 Series - Team Monaco, the British Racing Drivers' Club, JMI International and have been extremely lucky to work for Jenson Button MBE. I am currently working with the Race2Recovery team and Alexander Rossi.

2) You are a member of the Race Of Champions PR team, obviously its only once a year but how much work goes on in the build up and post ROC?

The Race Of Champions head office in Monaco contacts and hires event based staff approximately three months before each ROC weekend in December. There is a small number of permanent personnel at the head office working with the sponsors and current venue throughout the year. Then the live event specialists come along and help to shape the event and make it happen. It is a fantastic event to work on! 2011 was my first ROC and hopefully it will not be my last.

3) What are the positives and negatives of your work?

You can combine your passions with your job, so I am very lucky in that respect. The only negative I can think of is that you can end up travelling a lot, missing family, friends and birthdays, anniversaries and the such like.

4) You are PR for Alexander Rossi, American racing driver in the World Series By Renault series, what kind of relationship do you two have and what do you think of him?

In 2011 I wrote the press releases for Team Rossi and helped with website content provision. For 2012 my contracted role has expanded to include non-racing PR and other aspects of media work for Team Rossi. At this racing level there is no need for a travelling personal PR, so we end up basically having a telephone and email relationship once the season starts!

5) Lastly do you have any advice for people trying to get into the PR industry whether its in Motorsport or not?

As with any profession linked to the media, demand for roles is high. Stick to your guns, gain work experience if you can and sample in-house and agency PR work. I have worked in both and they are very different and I know which I prefer! Most of all, never give up! Follow your dream, however long it takes.

Thanks Emma for the interview, hope that gives you a better insight into the PR world. You can follow the lovely Emma on Twitter, which is were i got the images from, here.
